Learn more about Greenwich School.

Mission

Our TEAM school-wide theme is incorporated into all content areas and students show off the power of working as a TEAM through monthly character education assemblies

Academics

Our curricular programs are aligned with the NJ Student Learning Standards and provide students with skills to be active learners. The use of technology in the classrooms encourages students to become 21st Century learners by using Google apps and student email addresses.

Clubs

A few examples of the clubs we offer include Smile Squad (working together to bring cheer to staff and students), Mine Craft Builders, Buddies Club (opportunities for 5th grade students to help younger students in class), Battle of the Books, 4th/5th Grade Choir, 4th/5th Grade Band, Page to Stage Players (acting club for 3rd/4th/5th), Page to Stage Pee Wees Club (1st/2nd grades), and Student Leadership Alliance (5th grade leaders).

Programs

We offer child care programs that include before care and after care along with an Integrated Preschool Program and Wrap Programs for our preschool students.

Teachers

Teachers work together through professional development meetings and professional learning committees to discuss curriculum and to share instructional strategies. We also engage in vertical articulation through all content areas for curriculum consistency across the grade levels.

Supports

We offer programs that support students with special educational needs and English as a Second Language. We also provide basic skills instruction for students struggling to learn the ELA and/or Math curriculum and offer enrichment for those students who have gifts and talents that permit them to excel.

Health

Our school nurse works very closely with our staff to ensure students receive proper care and engages community resources to provide additional instruction. Our health/physical education teachers engage our students in wellness activities such as Jump Rope for Heart. Kindergarten students learn about poison control from a local pharmacist and first graders meet with a dental hygienist who teaches them about proper dental hygiene. Our School Counselor works with all staff and students to support their emotional well being.

Parents

Our school is fortunate to have a very engaged parent community. The PTO plans many events for our students including dances, Family Fun Night, Variety Show, assemblies, and offers treats throughout the year. The Greenwich Autism Alliance is also involved with our school and offers teacher grants for our special education program.

Facilities

The elementary school building consists of Preschool through 5th Grade.

School safety

We promote school safety through monthly drills and review of safety procedures with both staff and students. Our building is locked and visitors are only permitted to enter through the main entrance doors.

Technology

Each classroom is afforded Chromebooks and a technology lab for student use. Through technology, math and science classes students are given the opportunity to engage in STEM activities.

Early childhood

Our school offers an integrated preschool program entitled Little Stingers for students who are 3-5 years old.
