Lincoln Community School #5 is a public school located in Bayonne, New Jersey with 426 students in grades Pre-K-8.
Lincoln Community School supports a diverse culture on the Eastside of Bayonne. Various days are celebrated to recognize cultures and worthy causes at LCS.2018-2019 Math Olympiad - 2nd place overall
Lincoln Community School continues to excel in regards to participation rate during state testing (NJSLA). 100 percent of students participated in NJSLA testing for the 2018-2019 school year.
Lincoln Community School & the LCS PTO provide students and parents multiple educational and recreational activities such as Robotics, monthly Family Nights, and major fundraising events.

The Mission Statement of Lincoln Community School and the Bayonne Public School District is to provide optimum learning opportunities for all students in a safe, secure, inclusive learning environment that fosters personal and interpersonal growth, lifelong learning and a strong sense of community. We believe that the district's mission can be accomplished when administrators, teachers, parents and the community collaborate as a team to accomplish its goals, which are:To set high standards and expectations for student achievement.To provide a safe environment conducive to learning.To meet the needs of our diverse, multi-cultural school population.To provide a challenging curriculum by utilizing educational technologies that meet the needs of the 21st century.To provide programs that foster successful home, school and community partnerships.To provide continued teacher training and professional development.


Lincoln Community School operates in a Full-Inclusion setting from Pre-K-8. There are also Multiple Disabled settings in K-5, with Special Needs Pre-K as well. The four core subject areas of Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies are complemented with Art, Technology, Music and Physical Education. Speech Therapy, OT/PT and Title I services are also available at LCS.


Basketball (Boys & Girls), Cheerleading (Girls), Football (Boys)


Peer, Student Council, Art Club, Chess Club, Robotics, Yearbook, Band, ChoirLCS competes in the following district events: Academic Challenge, Spelling Bee, Fire Bowl, Forensics, Math Olympiad, Chess Tournament, Robotics, and Science Fair.


LCS offers both Before Care and After Care. Before Care runs from 7:25 a.m. until 8:25 a.m. After Care operates from 3 - 6 p.m.


LCS is comprised of a Principal, Guidance Counselor, Nurse, Child Study Team, Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Therapists, and Custodial staff. LCS staff participate in three full-day professional development sessions, along with four half-day sessions. Teachers are also given the opportunity to seek out additional professional development with administrative approval.

LCS operates in the Inclusion setting, with Title I services available. Speech, Physical & Occupational Therapies are also provided. An Intervention & Referral Services team is in place to properly assist in addressing student needs and placement. Students have access to a full-time Guidance Counselor.


Physical Education Pre-K - 8, Family Swim & Skate Nights, NJ Safe Routes to School Recognition. Additionally, the school Nurse conducts wellness checks throughout the year for the students. All students are provided breakfast each day, with multiple options available for lunch.


Lincoln Community School host Back to School Night, Open House, and Mid-Year Parent Conferences.LCS PTO provides a myriad of activities/events such as: Cupcake Wars, Trunk or Treat, Multi-Cultural Family Night, Salsa Night, Movie Night, Holiday Bazaar, Casino Night, Field Day, and seasonal fundraisers.


Lincoln Community School is comprised of 25 classrooms, along with an Art room, Library/Media Center, Music Room, Gymnasium, Multi-Purpose Room, OT/PT Room, a Speech Therapy Room, two Resource classrooms, Life Skills Room, Principal's office, Guidance office, Nurse office, and a Teacher's room. The one distinguishing factor of LCS is that there is an olympic-size swimming pool in the building. The pool is used for open swim sessions, swim lessons, community events, and is the home of the B.H.S. swim team.

School safety

At Lincoln Community School, safety is a top priority. The school utilizes two entrances equipped with metal detectors and manned by school staff. There is a Level III police officer stationed in the building full-time, with a reception aide to monitor guests through a computer filter system. LCS conducts monthly safety and fire drills in compliance with NJ state code. The School Safety/Climate team also meets on a monthly basis to review all drills and address any security/safety concerns.


Lincoln Community School utilizes chromebooks on a daily basis in grades 3-8. Students in grades K-2 have access to flipbooks, with Pre-K classrooms being equipped with iPads and Smart Tables. Technology is integrated on a regular schedule in classrooms through these resources along with Smartboards and specific programs and applications designed to enhance the educational experience.

Early childhood

Lincoln Community School offers five separate Full-day Pre-K sections. There are 3 Inclusion classes, with 2 self-contained special needs sections. All of our Pre-K classes follow the High Scopes Curriculum.
