The mission of the Montgomery Middle School, Lower Campus, is to prepare each student to be a knowledgeable, responsible, and contributing member of the school, local and world communities. Our aim is to have our students function with self-esteem, integrity, and compassion. Montgomery Middle School, Lower Campus, aspires to enable learners to achieve worthy intellectual accomplishments, as reflected in their ability to transfer their learning with understanding to worthy tasks and their mature habits of mind. It is the intent of the middle school to provide students not only with high caliber academic programs, but also diversified and challenging elective offerings, exploratory opportunities, and cycle course experiences. Instruction is guided by fifth and sixth grade teams, which meet on a daily basis for planning and curriculum articulation. A close relationship exists between the Guidance and Special Services Departments in order to better serve the student body. There is an emphasis throughout the middle school on interdisciplinary teaching, integration of technology, and a child-centered approach to learning. It is the belief of the middle school staff that every child is an individual, each possessing his or her own unique learning style(s). The teachers, therefore, attempt to instruct through various techniques and strive to remain current in educational philosophies. The courses of study for Montgomery Middle School, Lower Campus, include the core subjects of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, Spanish, and physical education. Cycle opportunities include: health, art, family and consumer sciences and industrial technology. Also offered are elective music courses of band, chorus, orchestra, and music workshop.
