New Brunswick Public Schools will prepare, empower, and inspire students to become engaged in their own learning, their environment, and the world. Students will develop their creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills to innovate solutions to complex challenges. The entire community will collaborate to create a nurturing environment that allows students to reach these goals.
Paul Robeson Community School For The Arts integrates arts into the established district curriculum by providing opportunities for students to participate in academic units integrated with the arts. Students in grades 6-8 major/minor in art forms of their choice. In addition, we provide students with rigorous, and challenging activities that include high level tasks to foster self regulation and rigorous thinking.
Students Council, Science Environmental Club, Textile Art Club, Dance Enrichment club, Theatre Enrichment Club and Music Enrichment club.

Staff members receive professional development in the area of Arts Integration, implementing high level tasks in math and english language Arts. Culturally Responsive Teaching; and Voice and Agency.
Basic Skills Instructional Support for identified students; Extended School Day Program to support students in need of additional academic support; Summer Academy that targets primary students in need of additional literacy support; individual Education Plans for students with identified learning disabilities; intervention & Referral Services to provide additional teaching strategies and supports to teachers and families of students in need of additional assistance.
School Social Worker; School Counselor; School Psychologist; Students participate in 160 minutes of Physical Education and Health Education weekly along with 20 minutes of recess daily; Students can receive breakfast daily at the start of the school day.
Monthly PTO meetings are offered by the school Parent Teacher Organization; Parents have access to the parent portal through the school information system where they can check student grades and track student progress. The school partners with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. Family Literacy/Math Nights are also offered to parents.
The school is located at 199 Paul Robeson BlVD in New Brunswick. The school building is equiped with a state of the art Art Room; Dance Studio; Choral Room, Theatre Room, and Music Room.
Paul Robeson is a safe school for all students. We have been recognize as a Promising School of Character. We promote a positive school culture and climate on a regular basis.
Students in grades 3-5 has 1:1 chrombook devices used in school. All students in grades 6-8 are issued 1:1 devices which can be take home. In addition, students in grades 6-8 have internet access at home through the distirct. All classrooms at Paul Robeson School For The Arts are equipped with promethean boards.
Our teachers have block schedules in all subject areas. Students are required to wear school uniforms on a daily basis. In addition, Paul Robeson Community School For The Arts is a neighborhood school in the new Brunswick Public School district. We continue to partner with George Street Play House to provide in school curricular based theatre residencies; American Repertory Ballet for in school dance residencies and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Our students will benefit from these and other expereinces with professionals in the world of the arts as we provide students from Kindergarten through Grade eight.
