The aspiration of Raritan Valley School is to âÂÂEducate our students to achieve their maximum potential.â It is important to us to provide a concrete educational foundation for our students to be successful. Raritan Valley School is still and always will be âÂÂA Good Place to Grow.âÂÂ
Our fundamental academic curriculum includes: Reading, Language Arts, Inquiry based Mathematics and Science programs, Social Studies, Health, Physical Education, Art, Spanish, Vocal/Instrumental Music, Technology and a Harassment Intimidation and Bullying curriculum. We also have implemented, in coordination with the YMCA, the Healthy U program. Qualified students also receive services in our Targeted Basic Skills Reading Program, our Enrichment Program and our Resource Centers. Students in the Hazlet District who require small group settings with accommodations that are deemed eligible by the child study team, will be enrolled in one of our three self-contained LLD classrooms. English as a SEcond Language (ESL) students who qualify for program ghrought the district are enrolled.
Raritan Valley offers our students the opportunity to participate in a variety of clubs and activities. These activities include a Library Squad Club, STEAM Club, Grade 4 Safety Patrol, Circle of Friends, Morning Announcers, Scripts Spelling Bee, a Grade 4 Band, Cgess Club, Cartoon Drawing, NASA.
Raritan Valley School offers an After School Homework Club, After School Tutors, and Right at School provides before and after care programming.
Raritan Valley School is committed to teaching excellence by participating in several professional development opportunities that the Hazlet district offers. Once a month, teachers articulate in various professional learning communities. Three days during the school year are built into the calendar for staff members to participate in full day workshops. Staff members are also encouraged to attend out of district workshops and conferences that are in-line with our district initiatives and building goals.

Our PTO sponsors many events including Fall and Spring Beautification Day, two Spelling Bees, Parent/Student Activity Night, Halloween Parade, Holiday Shop, Winter and Spring Concerts, Supply Closet, Book Fair, Science Fair/Art Show, Ladiesâ Night, Grandparentsâ Day, Mothersâ Day Plant Sale, Dessert With Dad, Field Day, Paint with Someone Special, and two Family Bingo Nights.
Raritan Valley School is equipped for 21st century learning with wireless internet capability throughout the school with the appropriate bandwidth for fast internet browsing and streaming video. Raritan Valley is fully air conditioned conducive to learning. Every classroom has a document camera and a smartboard with webcam. We offer our students the opportunity of distance learning through video networking in all of our classrooms. The school is equipped with four carts stocked with iPads and 8 newly stocked carts with 1:1 Chromebooks for all 4th grade students.
During the school year, Raritan Valley School has a variety of activities that are offered to our students and parents that enrich the education process. Those that have taken place this past year are First Grade Orientation for all new incoming grade one students, Back to School Night which gives an opportunity to all parents to meet our staff, Week of Respect and Anti School Violence Awareness Week, and Transitioning Day, which allows the students to meet their next year teachers before summer recess begins. At Raritan Valley School, our devoted teaching staff is committed as educators to implement our trio of district initiatives that include Personalized Learning, Social Emotional Learning and Future Ready. We focus on data driven instruction, small group instruction, technology tools and student set learning goals in order to achieve student success for all. Part of our staffsâ everyday culture is the commitment to becoming lifelong learners through our very own Professional Development Academy. In addition, we also have an armed officer in our building throughout the day as added security.
