Mission: To become leaders in the effective and thorough education of all students, rooted in the core belief that making excuses is not an option; that all children can and will learn; that teachers will work towards the improvement of the academic skills of students; increased effective and differentiated instruction that is research-based will make students more productive in school and global economy; and will utilize a variety of teaching strategies and best practices that will best meet the learning styles of the students. Education will take place in an environment which is innovative, challenging, caring and trusting. Vision: Belief that all students can learn and excel in an academically rich environment that has established high academic and citizenship standards of achievement.
Students receive an integrated education that provides them with academic knowledge and assists them in their own personal development. Differentiated learning is utilized within the classrooms that will address the different learning styles of the students and meet their individual needs. At each grade level there is a literature based reading program and a bilingual component program in Grades K-8. These programs concentrate on the development of comprehension skills, vocabulary enhancement, higher order thinking skills, and analysis. Grammar and other techniques required for all forms of written expression are incorporated into both the reading and language arts classes as well as other curricula areas. Students learn to develop all types of writing styles that will be used in the real world. Reading and writing development are also integrated and developed in all of the curricula areas of study.
School is a pickup home school for the Paterson Boys and Girls. It is staffed with two counselors that worked directly with the students on various projects.
SEL is the primary focus at all PLCâÂÂs this year. Teachers are exploring mindfulness as the implement the curriculum.

School 8 has a 1:1 Chromebook per student. Technology is infused into all the subject areas. Carts of laptop computers and i-pads are directly in the classroom for on-line and research within each discipline through the use of the internet. The schoolâÂÂs media center also houses many computers for individual student or class usage. Programs include: Achieve 3000, ALEKS, Success-Maker and Razz Kids
Teachers provide students with strategies to develop their reading comprehension in specific skill areas. Our teachers are now using the schoolâÂÂs e-mail capabilities from any computer connection to the Internet. The entire educational effort is coordinated through grade level teams and interdisciplinary teacher interactions. Sensitive, well-trained, progressive, and vibrant staff members who have a true meaning of the K-8 multi-cultural school student implement our many programs.
