Highlights
Within our diverse community, students learn how to be self-directed learners while being challenged academically.
Explore MS is the only Career and Technical Middle School in New Jersey. Student rotate through CTE classes of their choice.
Explore Middle School is a one-to-one (1:1) environment; each student has his/her own chromebook while in schoo,l utilizing a google classroom community.

Mission

OUR MISSION STATEMENT: Explore Middle School is an innovative, technological middle school that cultivates independent thinking through cooperative learning experiences.

Academics

Students take all the core classes using a project based approach, choose four CTE classes that they are interested in, have an advisor who follows them all three years, have four thematic projects each quarter, and attend multiple field trips to apply skills outside of the classroom.

Programs

Before School: Wellness and Fitness During School: Students are encouraged to participate in community service activities, peer mentoring, tutoring and mediation. We offer a comprehensive, interest-driven After School program including wellness, performing arts, technology, math squad, photography, makers lab, and journalism. Enrichment Programs through Open Learning Lab: Mathematics, Language Arts Ages: 6th-8th Grade

Teachers

Most staff has earned or is working toward a Master's degree, all are highly qualified. Teachers and all staff members are encouraged to participate in PD as the need arises and opportunities become available to support our students. Common prep periods and team teaching offers collaborative opportunities within our professional community.

Health

We offer healthy breakfast and lunch every day as well as healthy snacks during the After School program. Students participate in Physical Education and Health and Wellness as part of their daily schedule and also have recess. After school, they are able to participate in Game Stop, Volleyball, Wii Fitness and Wellness.

Parents

PSA Parent Student Advisory, Council meets monthly to plan events, fundraisers and school-wide activities for the students and community. Collaborative Partnerships include, but are not excluded to: Hudson River Fishermen Association, Hudson County Improvement Authority , Hackensack Riverkeeper: Urban Watershed Program, Recycled Regatta, NJ Sea Grant Consortium, NJDEP/NJ Fish and Wildlife, NJCU Proyecto Science, Liberty State Park Interpretive Center, American Littoral Society, Exxon Mobile

Facilities

The building is 18 years old. There is a wellness center, gymnasium, student lounge, art studio, FAB Lab, science lab, resource room, character education center with student library, and a computer lab. Air Conditioning, and Wifi.
